FAQs
1. What is your approach to working with patients?
Regardless of why people specifically seek help, they universally seek peace, harmony and satisfaction in life. By understanding who they are, who they perceive themselves to be, and what they value, we can work together to develop techniques and modalities of thought to help them accomplish this.
2. How do you integrate medication management?
Medication management depends on the acuity and severity of the patient’s symptoms. Some people benefit from psychotherapy alone, some from medication management alone, and others do best with a combination of both. The treatment plan must be particularized at the individual level; there are circumstances when medications are the most effective method of increasing the patient’s well-being, and there are other times when this is not the case. There are also situations where the individual may benefit most from medication management initially, but as symptoms become less severe and coping mechanisms become more robust, they may be tapered and transitioned to psychotherapy alone. All in all, the treatment plan, whether involving medication management or not, must be tailored to the specific needs of the patient. A great physician does not strive to treat the disease, but instead focuses on treating the person who suffers from that disease.
3. What types of concerns do you specialize in treating?
Anxiety, Depression
4. What's something you want your patients to know about you?
I am navigating life just as you are. We search, we struggle, we fail and we succeed. My function is as a guide, with medical knowledge and life experience as the foundation of my guidance. But the journey of life--whatever you build and wherever you go--that is yours.
5. What do you believe is the most important part of the healing process?
Belief and Purpose are fundamental to healing, and to life sustenance in general. As Nietzche said, a man can suffer almost any how, if he is given a why. If we can make our life meaningful, including our suffering, then we can heal.
6. What kinds of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who can examine themselves critically and are motivated to implement changes in their lives. It does not matter how this is done, and the specific techniques will depend on the individual, but self-examination and willingness to change (thoughts, beliefs, actions) are crucial to personal betterment.
7. Do you have experience with trauma or PTSD?
Yes
8. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Exercise, Martial Arts, Philosophy, History, Anthropology, Music. Spending time with family and friends.
