Getting to know Uday Mukherjee, M.D.
Dr. Mukherjee has been a consultant psychiatrist for over 15 years and held various leadership roles in psychiatry for several years. He did his medical training in India and finished his Psychiatry Residency and Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is Fellow of American Psychiatric Association and is Board Certified in both Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. He was the Medical Director for Stanislaus County and Chief Psychiatrist for the Geriatric division over 10 years.
Dr. Mukherjee treats adults of all ages with various psychiatric disorders. His area of special interest includes late life psychiatric illness and psychiatric illness associated with memory impairment. He believes in team work and involves patients in shared decision making. Dr. Mukherjee combines psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy in his practice and enjoys taking a whole person approach in patient care.

A doctor who believes in a patient centric approach , where focus is just not about prescribing a medication but understanding the person as a whole and tailoring a treatment plan which will be geared towards making a positive change in the persons life
5. What do you believe is the most important part of the healing process?
The most important part of healing is Understanding the person, their goals and aspiration and then deciding a treatment plan which helps the person in achieving those goals.
6. What kinds of clients do you work with best?
Although I specialize and enjoy working with older adults I have close to 25 years of experience in working with adults of all ages above the age of 18.
7. Do you have experience with trauma or PTSD?
Yes. A substantial number of the patients that I have worked with has experienced trauma in various aspect of their life including veterans and civilians who have faced abuse in various settings.
8. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Spending time with family, walking my dog, traveling to various places , playing tennis watching sports and TV shows.
