FAQs
1. What is your approach to working with patients?
I take a collaborative, thoughtful, and individualized approach to psychiatric care. I want patients to feel heard and understood, while also leaving appointments with a clear sense of what we are working toward together. I consider not only symptoms and diagnoses, but also each person’s background, culture, life circumstances, and treatment preferences when developing a plan.
2. How do you integrate medication management?
I view medication as one tool within a broader treatment plan rather than a one-size-fits-all solution. My approach is to understand which symptoms are most affecting a patient’s quality of life, review the potential benefits and risks of different options, and make treatment decisions together. I aim to use medications thoughtfully and intentionally, with ongoing attention to effectiveness, side effects, and whether a medication continues to be necessary.
3. What types of concerns do you specialize in treating?
I work with adults experiencing a range of psychiatric concerns, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and sleep-related concerns. I am also particularly interested in women’s mental health and in working with individuals from immigrant, refugee, and culturally diverse backgrounds. My broader experience in emergency and hospital-based psychiatry has also given me experience caring for patients with more complex psychiatric presentations.
4. What's something you want your patients to know about you?
I want my patients to know that I value having an open and nonjudgmental relationship with them. I believe good psychiatric care should feel collaborative rather than prescriptive, and I welcome patients asking questions, expressing concerns, or telling me when something about their treatment is not working for them. My goal is for patients to feel comfortable being honest with me so that we can make decisions that genuinely fit their needs and goals.
