Ivan K. Putziger, M.D.

Adult Psychiatrist

Dr. Putziger’s diverse cultural background creates a strong sense of competency in understanding his patients’ value system in treatment. Dr. Putziger was born in Brazil, grew up in France and received his primary education in New York. He subsequently studied Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University and obtained his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine.


Dr. Putziger completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of Virginia, where he was a Chief Resident in his final year. He was awarded Outstanding Teaching Resident, twice. Dr. Putziger is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as a member of the American Psychiatric Association. He has served as the Treasurer of the Northern California Psychiatric Society for the term of 2017-2018 and is currently serving a three-year term as Councilor at large.


Dr. Putziger’s commitment to patient care is reflected in his understanding of patients needs and goals. He believes that empowering patients to take charge of their treatment is the cornerstone of building a strong therapeutic relationship. In addition to providing Psychopharmacology, Dr. Putziger’s mission is to assist his patients in cultivating authentic and intimate relationships with loved ones and develop a balanced lifestyle.


Dr. Putziger is fluent in English, Portuguese, and conversational in French.
