Getting to know Zaira Gasanova, M.D.
I am a psychiatrist with experience treating adults of all ages and from all walks of life. I attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, and then, fleeing the cold, completed my residency training in general psychiatry at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles General Hospital.
I treat all major psychiatric illnesses, including mood, anxiety, OCD, bipolar, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, with special interest and training in trauma-related conditions and women’s mental health. I provide primarily medication management services, though I incorporate brief psychotherapy into my sessions to help my patients understand themselves more deeply and better align their actions with their values.
I see medication as one part of the toolkit available to us for creating a better life. At the end of visits, I clearly share my impressions and recommendations so that we can discuss treatment options and decide how to move forward together. Above all, I hope my patients walk away from each appointment feeling that they have had all of their questions answered.
