I’ve had such a wonderful experience with Dr Jay Kim. Easily the most personable psychiatrist I’ve ever met and I’ve met a lot. He’s easy to talk to, thorough and kind. Very grateful I found this place.
FAQs
1. What is your approach to working with patients?
Relaxed, collaborative, and intentional.
In practice, my approach begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment - this takes the form of a conversation about your current mental health and the journey that you took to get there. My objective is to understand your symptoms, health history, and goals so that I can offer recommendations that are highly individualized, based on your values and preferences as well as current evidence-based guidelines.
2. How do you integrate medication management?
In addition to lifestyle recommendations and psychotherapy, there may be a role for medications in an overall mental health treatment plan. A careful decision to start or change medications will be made together only after a discussion of benefits, risks, and alternatives. Follow-up visits for ongoing monitoring are important, and adjustments made will be gradual and deliberate, based on your individual response to the medications.
3. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
My interests include national parks, pickleball, video games, cats, coffee, and cooking. I'd love to learn about yours!
